RapidBook Tutorial
This is meant to serve as a starting point for working with RapidBook for Stacks. I strongly recommend that you use the files provided in the test files you downloaded or the files that were provided with your purchase. This will insure that we are all looking at the same files. Once you get the stock files working you can then customize the contents of the RapidBook.
Start with copying your files to your hard drive. You will need these to continue. All the steps are to be preformed from the edit screen in RapidWeaver.
As you see there are only a few steps in adding this to your project. It is pretty simple work, but very exacting. All spelling must be exact. The most common problem is usually spelling. Case matters. If the file is book.swf don't type Book.swf. This problem will not reveal itself until you upload to your server.
Take your time and do frequent testing as you customize book. I would test every page to make sure it works when starting out. RapidBook can be scaled only. You can't change the shape of the page. If you change the shape of the page RapidBook will just distort your page to make it fit. After setting up your first page of custom content test it. I suggest you open one of the pages I supplied and erase it. This way you know it will be the proper size. You should optimize your jpg files to the display size. This will insure the fastest load and clear pictures.
Read the manual supplied about customizing content. I do not give support on Photoshop issues.
Start with copying your files to your hard drive. You will need these to continue. All the steps are to be preformed from the edit screen in RapidWeaver.
- Drag the RapidBook.stack into your Stacks folder and restart RapidWeaver. This folder is located in: current username/Library/Application Support. The RapidBook Stack is now ready for use. Drag the RapidBook.stack onto this Stacks page.
- Next we need to add the files to your assets. You will see two files in red already there. Do not remove these untill you add your replacement files. Go to the page Inspector and click the Header icon. In the middle of the window click the tab on the far right marked "Assets". In the bottom right corner now click the "Add Files..." button. Next navigate to the files you copied to your hard drive and add the swf file (named book.swf). Click the "Add Files..." button again and add the entire "rapidbook" folder.
- Click the "i" button on the RapidBook stack you draged onto the page. This opens a typical Stacks dialog box. Make sure the "Path to book.swf" area has the path to your swf file (assets/book.swf). The assets directory must always be included in the path. Please be aware that you may change the name of the swf file to whatever you like. You may not change the name of any other files. You may not change the path either. The reason for this is because that information is embedded within the swf file.
- If you followed my instuctions.... Hit Preview! TaDaaaaa There is your book.
